August 25th, 2015: The 23rd National Children’s Science Congress successfully conducted the exhibition and prize distribution ceremony: hosted by Takshila School, Begusarai. Almost 55 schools of the district and 700 participants had presented their models, charts and projects on the focal theme- ‘Understanding Weather and Climate’. The programme was organized by Department of Science & Technology, GOI and Science For Society, Bihar, in collaboration with SCERT Patna and BCST Begusarai. The event was catalyzed and supported by NATIONAL COUNCIL OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY COMMUNICATION (Department of Science and technology, Govt. of India, New Delhi).
The topic further had six sub-themes related to –Weather and Climate, Human Activities, Ecosystem, Agriculture and Health. The programme was conducted in two sections- Exhibition and Prize distribution. The exhibition started at 10:00 am after the registration of the participating teams. The registration fee for the participating schools was Rs.100 per school, which was collected by the District coordinator of the event- Mr. Harshvardhan.
The displayed projects were adjudged by the professors and lecturers ( Science department) of the district. It was a tough decision and the participants had to answer the questions by the examiner.
The exhibition was followed by Prize distribution ceremony which was inaugurated at 2:00 pm by the Chief Guest of the day Mr.Kanchan Kapoor, IAS, DDC, Begusarai.
The prizes were awarded by the DDC, Begusarai, in the presence of number of dignitaries representing the Science department in the district.
Thirteen projects were selected for the state level out of which two were from Takshila School, namely: •
- A presentation on the topic ‘Mosquitoes- Impact and reasons ‘ by Aditya and group( Std 8) •
- A presentation on -The Effect of Human Activities on the Environment’ by Yumna and Group (Std 9).
The participating schools were provided lunch and dispersed after the prize distribution at 4:00 pm.
